Texas Linux Fest is the first state-wide, annual, community-run conference for Linux and open source software users and enthusiasts from around the Lone Star State. Much like SCALE in Los Angeles, Ohio Linux Fest in Columbus, and Linux Fest Northwest -- and an ever-growing list of successful regional shows -- Texas Linux Fest is a weekend event geared towards individual users, rather than an expensive multi-workday expo that might cater primarily to sponsored attendees. Whether you use free software and Linux at home, in your place of business, in your school or non-profit, or you are simply curious, Texas Linux Fest offers something for you.

Texas Linux Festival is a non-profit (501c) community based organization that is run by volunteers to organize and provide the TXLF conferences. The first official TXLF conference was held in 2010 in Austin, TX.

Texas Linux Fest 2015 is the sixth annual Linux and open source software event for Texas and the surrounding region. We are excited to bring you two days of general sessions and vendor sessions this year along with two full days of expo floor! The event has experienced steady growth since our inaugural VIVA! Streets in 2012. In our fourth year, we anticipate 15,000 participants.

EdTech Austin is the hub for amazing keynotes, panel discussions, edtech mixers, member spotlights, and hands-on learning experiences that inspire teachers, entrepreneurs, technologists, education reformers, and edtech enthusiasts to connect, collaborate, and innovate.

We meet to explore various topics at the intersection of education and technology, to learn about the latest technologies that are supporting teachers, and to hear from teachers about the problems in education that must be fixed now.

At the Austin meetups, we challenge our community to think through ways in which technology can enhance and promote real learning to positively transform education, and we know there are amazing education advocates all around the world with a similar mission. Along with our partners in other cities, you can join The EdTech Meetup virtually using #edtechaustin and #edmeet on Twitter to share our learnings and engage with other education advocates around the world to realize positive systemic (or disruptive) change.

The ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot is one of Austin’s most beloved traditions. Held on Thanksgiving Day since 1991, the Trot is Texas’ largest five-mile run and continues to grow each year. Most importantly, 100 percent of the proceeds benefit Caritas of Austin–an organization dedicated to preventing and ending homelessness, poverty, and hunger in the greater Austin area.
As Austin continues to grow at a record pace, affordable housing and resources are becoming increasingly scarce, putting even more people at risk of experiencing poverty and homelessness. Now more than ever, we ask you to partner with us in the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot to help support Caritas’ mission.

The money raised at the Turkey Trot each year is critical to Caritas’ work helping thousands of individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency. Last year, more than 20,000 runners raised $325,000 for Caritas. Your sponsorship helps continue a long tradition of helping those less fortunate in our community.
